If you have a major event in your facility you will have well-meaning volunteers on your doorstep wanting to help.
In order to make the most effective use of their time you need to be very clear what you need done.
Have each and every employee put together a checklist of their responsibilities and a list of important contacts.
When someone wants to help you should be able to just hand him or her the list and get him or her started. This goes from a list of areas to be cleaned to a list of Board Members who need to be called.
Review the lists at least once a year to be sure they are up to date.
Valuable time can be lost and frustrations develop if you can’t think of what to give someone to do. It can also make the difference between having meaningful help and make work activities
